Three Squirrels in a Pressure Cooker

Bye Bye Apple

vista.jpgWell, the day has come.  After two and a half years I have abandoned the Mac Powerbook and have moved back to a shiny new Windows box.   All of the irritations that are part of the Mac experience (can you say “Finder?” — I knew you could!) are behind me.

The new box is an Acer with a dual core Athlon processor, 3 gigs of RAM and a honkin’ 650 gigs of storage space. Plus integrated WiFi, Firewire, many USB ports, and the ubiquitous Nine In One Card reader.

Plugged it in, turned it on, and it Just Works.

In fact my month with Vista (in full Aero mode) has me convinced that this is what Apple has been trying to do, but has botched in too many ways to mention.  The Vista machine is just easier to use.

Probably my last task with the Mac will be full format and reinstall of OS X, if only to find out if the increasing crashes and other issues – and boy have they been getting bad – are software or hardware related.
